Note: Each PDF will open in a new tab. The transcriber's name and date are shown in parentheses.
This project is dedicated to the late Dr. Michael Austin who,
with members of AFGS and AFAOA, initiated the project in 2009-2010. In 2011, AFAOA
members (particularly Helen Cook Austin) have completed the transcribing, compiling,
and web page preparation for the remaining states.
The numbers preceding each household are the enumeration date,
the page number, the dwelling number and the family number. After the listing of household members, occupations, the dollar
value of the head of household's real estate (R.E.), and the dollar value of their Personal Estate (P.E.) are shown. Some
transcribers substituted proper name information from the 1850 or 1870 U.S. Census for initials that were used on the
1860 Census. U.S. 1860 Slave Schedule Census data [in Boldface] were added for slave owners in the Southern States.
